Package Names

For clarity and consistency throughout the installation instructions, we use package names corresponding to the MooseFS PRO version. In most cases, the installation process for MooseFS PRO and MooseFS Community Edition (CE) is identical, and the only difference lies in the package names.

If you are installing MooseFS CE, simply remove the -pro suffix from the package names shown in the examples.

For example:

  • moosefs-pro-master (PRO) → moosefs-master (CE)
  • moosefs-pro-chunkserver (PRO) → moosefs-chunkserver (CE)

This approach keeps the documentation concise while covering both versions effectively. Always make sure you install the appropriate package version based on your license and intended deployment.
